Respiratory Therapist - Part Time
About the role
This position involves operating and administering various respiratory therapy equipment and procedures. It also includes responding to emergency situations and providing patient education.
Responsibilities
- Operates mechanical ventilation equipment and administers oxygen therapy to patients.
- Administers respiratory therapy treatments such as intermittent positive pressure breathing and ultrasonic treatments.
- Mobilizes secretions in lungs and performs pulmonary function tests.
- Instructs patients in breathing techniques and draws arterial blood gas samples.
- Responds to code calls and administers CPR procedures.
- Maintains and cleans respiratory equipment and prepares emergency oxygen setups.
- Assists anesthesiologists with tracheostomy tube changes and provides ongoing education to patients.
Requirements
Licensed registered respiratory therapist by the West Virginia Board of Respiratory Care. Certification in Basic Life Support required within 30 days of hire.
Qualifications
Knowledge and skill necessary to provide care and education appropriate to the age of the patients served (Neonatal 0-11 months, Pediatric 1-12 years, Adolescence 13-17 years, Adult 18-79 years, Geriatric 80+ years).
Skills
Good interpersonal communication skills, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
