Job Summary
Provides Cardio-Pulmonary services to patients as prescribed by physicians. Works collaboratively with all healthcare team members toward the best outcomes for the patient and the organization. Cares for the Cardio-Pulmonary needs of complex critical patients from newborn to the adult in an independent manner.
Details of the position
- Directs patient care activities on the unit for the shift by making/adjusting staff assignments and ensures optimal patient outcomes.
- Acts as a clinical resource on procedures and standards for staff and physicians.
- Maintains staff compliance.
- Initiates investigation of incident reports when situation necessitates immediate action; otherwise refers for further evaluation/action as appropriate to Clinical Supervisor/Manager and/or Director.
- Performs essential functions of the staff Respiratory Therapist.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What you bring
- Accredited Program Required: Respiratory Care Program 2-year AMA-approved Respiratory Care Program
- Minimum of 2 years Required: Experience in acute care as a Respiratory Therapist
- Must be able to care for patients from neonate to adult independently.
- Preferred: Experience in adult ICU, Pediatrics, and Neonatal
- Required: Respiratory Care Practitioner - Oregon
- Required: Registered Respiratory Therapist
- Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire.
- PREFERRED: PALS, ACLS and NRP are all required upon hire.
- On call coverage for department clinical support required as designated by manager/director.
- NICU Transport Lead: NRP Instructor Required.
- NPS Preferred.
- Must have been on our transport team for a minimum of 2 years.
Skills
- Proficient with MS Office applications
- Previous leadership experience (Preferred)
- Must be able to set up, operate, and troubleshoot all respiratory related equipment in a quick and efficient manner.
- Must know how all respiratory equipment operates, the limits abilities, and how the equipment effects patients.
- Must be able to quickly assess acute, critical care resident situations and respond with a decisive and appropriate course of action.
Working Conditions
- Lifting Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
- Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
- Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
- Lifting (non-patient)/carrying occasionally up to 25 lbs.
- Push/Pull: 1-25 lbs. of force occasionally (i.e., moving equipment).
- Sitting/standing: Occasionally.
- Squatting/ bending/ kneeling: Occasionally.
Environmental Conditions
- Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
- Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting or in office environment.
- Mental/Visual Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
