About the role
The Respiratory Therapist position at PeaceHealth is a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The salary range for this role is $41.67 – $58.31 per hour. The hiring rate is dependent on various factors including education, training, work experience, and terms of applicable collective bargaining agreements.
Responsibilities
- Cares for the Cardio-Pulmonary needs of all assigned patients, from routine diagnostic procedures to critical care support and transport support.
- Collaborates with all members of the healthcare team to achieve the best outcomes for patients and the organization.
- Performs respiratory care including diagnostic testing, oxygen and medication delivery, bronchial hygiene, arterial/capillary blood gas draw and analysis, advanced airway, and life support.
- Affords patient assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating individual patient care appropriate to the age of the patients.
- Calibrates, cleans, sets up, maintains, and troubleshoots all patient-related equipment and instruments.
- Participates in in-house educational in-services, inter and intradepartmental, as well as attends outside seminars and workshops.
- Engages in various intermittent department tasks such as audits, quality assurance, statistical record keeping, patient charting, and special projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Accredited Program Required: Respiratory Care Program 2-year AMA-approved Respiratory Care Program or approved alternative education as outlined in the state regulatory requirements.
- Must pass the NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist exam within 6 months of hire.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in acute care as a Respiratory Therapist.
- Preferred: Experience in pulmonary function lab and ICU, Pediatrics, or Obstetrics.
Qualifications
- Respiratory Care Practitioner - Oregon or Washington (grandfathered for caregivers who were employed as of 6/29/2014).
- Registered Respiratory Therapist.
- Basic Life Support Skills.
- Proficient with MS Office applications.
Skills
- Ability to set up, operate, and troubleshoot all respiratory or pulmonary function related equipment.
- Quickly assess acute, critical care situations and respond with a decisive and appropriate course of action.
- Good time management skills.
