Job Summary
As our Respiratory Therapist, you will be a vital member of our healthcare team, providing life-sustaining and life-enhancing respiratory care to patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions across various clinical settings. Every day you will assess patient respiratory function, administer therapeutic treatments such as oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, and mechanical ventilation, and educate patients and families on respiratory health. You will be expected to rapidly respond to emergencies, collaborate with physicians and nurses, perform diagnostic procedures, and ensure optimal respiratory outcomes for our diverse patient population.
Responsibilities
- Assesses patient respiratory function
- Administers therapeutic treatments such as oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, and mechanical ventilation
- Collaborates with physicians and nurses
- Performs diagnostic procedures
- Ensures optimal respiratory outcomes for diverse patient population
- Rapidly responds to emergencies
- Provides age-appropriate care in areas such as fluid and electrolytes, pain management, psychosocial support, growth and development, and family/significant other involvement
- Conducts prescribed therapeutic procedures to achieve removal of broncho-pulmonary secretions and administers prescribed pharmacological agents
- Performs postural drainage and percussion, HHN, IPPB, and artificial/spontaneous ventilation
- Evaluates and monitors patient response to therapy
- Documents obvious signs and symptoms indicating actual or potential problems
- Incorporates basic lab and radiological data into assessment
- Recognizes immediate life-threatening situations and seeks appropriate assistance
- Records all therapies and results as required by patient care policies and procedures
Requirements
- Required: High School Graduate or GEDA, minimum of 3 years current neonatal critical care experience
- Preferred: Recent pediatric critical care experience
- Registered Respiratory Therapist
