Respiratory Therapist-Full Time Nights

About the role

Demonstrates knowledge of techniques and treatment modalities for patients of varying ages, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric. Follows best practices to reduce potential medication errors. Performs all duties and responsibilities for the assigned shift. Documents all pertinent data on the patient’s medical record after completing service.

Responsibilities

• Administers respiratory therapy treatments, understanding the purpose and possible side effects of each.
• Documents all pertinent data on the patient’s medical record after completing service.
• Ensures infection control.
• Provides optimal respiratory support including administration of oxygen and Heliox, administration of inhaled medications, lung expansion, and bronchial hygiene therapy.
• Performs ABG Puncture, analysis, arterial cannulation using sterile procedure, and hemodynamic monitoring.
• Performs ventilator patient transportation.
• Cares for the pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient in a health care delivery system.

Requirements

• Knowledge of health care field and medical terminology.
• Expertise in patient advocacy and navigating complex systems.
• Ability to function and assist others in stressful, fast-paced environments and effectively apply stress management techniques.
• Ability to resolve issues and work independently within the scope of their certification.
• Ability to exercise sound judgement, diplomacy, and a professional demeanor.
• Demonstrates ability to communicate by reading, writing and typing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively to carry out job requirements.
• Experience with computers.
• Critical thinking and patient assessment skills, with the ability to evaluate and modify plan of care.
• Effective oral and written communication skills, including documentation in the patient care record (EMR), and ability to use and adapt to computer systems and applications.
• Airway management skills, including insertion and maintenance of a patent airway.
• Prior use of electronic medical records (EMR).

Qualifications

• Associate's in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science.
• 1+ years experience as a respiratory therapist.

Skills

• Knowledge and skill to care for the pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient in a health care delivery system.
