About the Role

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive respiratory care to patients across various units and departments. This position involves working on general and pediatric nursing units, as well as emergency department, post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), and adult critical care units. Therapists may also cover other clinical areas as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive respiratory care, including therapeutic treatments, diagnostic monitoring, ventilator management, emergency airway support, and response to Code Blue, MRT, and PRT calls.
• Assess respiratory status and develop individualized care plans using approved protocols, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring compliance with infection control practices and EMR order verification.
• Support pulmonary rehabilitation by supervising exercise sessions, monitoring clinical responses, providing patient education, documenting progress, and coordinating home respiratory equipment and oxygen evaluations.
• Conduct pulmonary function and diagnostic testing (for trained therapists), including spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion studies, bronchial challenge, exercise testing, and equipment calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Assist with cardiac diagnostic services and leadership tasks (for qualified therapists) by performing EKGs, stress tests, Holter monitoring, overseeing staffing and assignments, supporting new employee orientation, and serving as team leader during Code Triage events.

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) who is registry-eligible allowed entry into job classification – RRT must be obtained within 4 months to remain in RRT classification.
• Currently licensed as a Respiratory Therapist in the State of Michigan or eligible to apply.

Additional Information

• Schedule: 7a-7:30p, 36 hours per week.
• $27,000 SIGN ON BONUS offered upon successful completion of employment.
• Munson Healthcare requires all employees to be vaccinated or have lab confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella.
• All employees must receive a flu vaccine during the flu season in the year of hire and annually thereafter, or receive an approved medical or religious exemption.
