Respiratory Therapist

About the role

The Respiratory Therapist provides essential respiratory care to patients of all ages, including administering oxygen therapy, ventilator management, and aerosolized medications. They perform assessments, monitor respiratory functions, and collaborate with healthcare teams to develop individualized care plans. The role involves educating patients and families on respiratory management, responding to emergencies, and maintaining equipment and documentation according to protocols.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Texas Respiratory Care Practitioner License
• Registered Respiratory Therapist License
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification
• Additional certifications like NRP and S.T.A.B.L.E. for NICU assignments are preferred

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct respiratory care and adjust treatments as needed
• Assess and monitor patient respiratory status
• Work with medical teams to create and implement care plans
• Educate patients and families on respiratory devices and management
• Respond promptly to respiratory emergencies and document treatments accurately
