Respiratory Therapist

The Role

• Manage a daily caseload of assigned residents, performing assessments, treatments, and documentation as the respiratory therapy lead on the floor.
• Work closely with nursing and the broader IDT, and report changes in respiratory status directly to the Directors of Nursing and Respiratory Care.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include:
• Review resident assignments each shift — vitals, current treatments, symptoms, and recent changes
• Conduct focused resident interviews and physical assessments of pulmonary status
• Perform lung capacity evaluations, blood gas analysis (O2/CO2), and other respiratory diagnostics as needed
• Execute and adjust treatment plans in line with care plan priorities and physician orders
• Document all assessments, interventions, and communications in Point Click Care (PCC)
• Communicate respiratory status changes to nursing leadership and physicians in real time
• Carefully coordinate care with the IDT — nursing, therapy, social services, and dietary
• Adhere to HIPAA, infection control, and emergency safety protocols
• Schedule and communicate with the IDT regarding care needs

Requirements

• Active CRT or RRT credential — Colorado-authorized, unencumbered
• Associate's degree or higher from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Minimum 1 year of respiratory experience in a skilled nursing or acute care setting
• Current BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross)
• Working knowledge of Point Click Care (PCC)
• Strong communication skills and the ability to function effectively in an IDT model
