Respiratory Therapist

Duties/Responsibilities

• Manage respiratory care for patients
• Provide patient assessments, interventions, and coordinate respiratory plan of care
• Aid in staff, patient, and family education regarding respiratory care
• Perform thorough developmental assessments for respiratory care
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, patients, and families
• Evaluate respiratory care needs for inpatient and outpatient populations
• Assess the need for respiratory care-related equipment and supplies
• Involvement in performance improvement efforts related to respiratory therapy

Required Skills/Abilities

• Graduate from an accredited respiratory care program
• Hold RRT certification from the National Board of Respiratory Care
• Have a current license to practice respiratory care in Texas
• At least 2 years of acute care experience, with preference for pediatric and neonatal specialist experience
• Hold current BLS and PALS certifications

Working Environment

• Inside working environment
• Sitting, standing, and walking positions
• Lifting/carrying tasks involving 25 - 50 lbs.
• Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, chemical hazards, and respiratory hazards
