About the role
The Respiratory Care Practitioner II (RCP II) at Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) provides critical care for patients with cardiopulmonary diseases. This role involves performing respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by the ordering provider. Responsibilities may include assessing, planning, implementing, and documenting care, with consideration for age and population-specific needs.
Under the direction and authorization of the medical director and cardiopulmonary director or manager, the RCP II is responsible for:
- Performing respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by the ordering provider
- Affirming the assessment, planning, implementation, and documentation of care
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Assuming responsibility for the section or department during their shift if designated as a Lead RCP
Responsibilities
The Respiratory Care Practitioner II (RCP II) at CMMC is responsible for:
- Providing critical care for patients with cardiopulmonary diseases
- Assessing, planning, implementing, and documenting care for patients
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Assuming responsibility for the section or department during their shift if designated as a Lead RCP
Requirements
- Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or obtained within three (3) months of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certified from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) upon hire and maintain current
- Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the AHA or ARC certification upon hire and maintain current
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the AHA certificate preferred
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certificate preferred
- Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science degree preferred
- Two (2) years of acute care experience is preferred
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates must have:
- A current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license
- A current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or obtain within three (3) months of hire
- A Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) upon hire and maintain current
- An Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the AHA or ARC upon hire and maintain current
- A Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the AHA preferred
- A Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred
- An Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science degree preferred
- Two (2) years of acute care experience preferred

The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $65,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
