About the Role

Windham Hospital, part of Hartford HealthCare, seeks a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) to deliver comprehensive respiratory care across all patient age groups—neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric—in accordance with departmental policies and medical guidance. The role involves independent clinical judgment, patient assessment, care planning, and family education.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and administer respiratory care services.
• Provide care to patients of all ages with a high degree of independent judgment.
• Reassess patient care needs and adjust treatment plans as required.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care.
• Perform pulmonary function testing.
• Communicate effectively with departments, physicians, and staff.
• Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, stressful environment.

Requirements

• Graduate of an Advanced Level Respiratory Therapist Educational Program or a two-year respiratory college program.
• 1,000 clinical hours in a hospital setting (new graduates accepted).
• CRT certification by the N.B.R.C. (required by state statute).
• Current Connecticut state licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• ACLS certification within 6 months of hire.
• PALS or STABLE Certification and NRP certification preferred.
