Responsibilities
- Communicate, teach, and explain the rationale of therapy to patients and family members.
- Respond to emergency calls and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation as well as implement emergency oxygen and arterial blood gas protocols as necessary.
- Draw routine and emergency arterial blood gases and interpret results to monitor the patient's respiratory and ventilatory status.
- Maintain and troubleshoot adult, pediatric (Emergency Department/Cath Lab), and neonatal ventilators; change ventilator tubing and other respiratory equipment.
- Administer oxygen therapy according to physician's orders, perform oximetry readings to accurately determine oxygen saturation, conduct nocturnal oximetry studies, and document patient usage.
- Perform respiratory parameters, extubations, tracheostomy tube changes, endotracheal suctioning, and transport critically ill patients within the hospital.
- Evaluate, set up, and monitor patients receiving Non-Invasive Positive Pressure Ventilation (NIPPV) and BIPAP assistance.
Requirements
- Two-year Associate Degree in Respiratory Care from an AMA-approved program.
- Current New York State License as a Respiratory Therapist.
- Credential by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
- BLS certification.
- ACLS certification within one year of hire.
- PALS certification within one year of hire.
- NRP certification.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, healthcare/hospital related IT/I.S. programs, and databases.

Pay
$32.50 - $45.33 / hour
Schedule
Two 12-hour shifts, 7:00pm - 7:30am, working every other weekend.
