About the role

The Respiratory Care Department, operating under the medical direction of the Pulmonary department, provides comprehensive respiratory services across Cambridge Health Alliance's Cambridge, Everett, and Somerville campuses. Our dedicated team of Respiratory Therapists delivers a wide range of essential therapeutic services, including administering medical gases, performing arterial blood gas analysis, managing airways, and conducting pulmonary function tests. We are committed to customer satisfaction, effective resource utilization, teamwork, and continuous quality improvement, ensuring the highest standard of respiratory care for both inpatients and outpatients.

Responsibilities

• Administration of therapeutic gases
• Performance of diagnostic tests such as arterial blood gas (ABG) draws and Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs)
• Aerosolized treatments, Incentive Spirometry, Chest Physical Therapy, and providing Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP)
• Airway management, including intubation (competency required)
• Tracheostomy care
• Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
• Setup of therapeutic equipment like PAP and Bi‑Pap machines
• Maintaining accurate patient records
• Collaborating with nursing staff
• Adapting to a fast‑paced environment
• Committed to continuous learning
• Effective communicator and team player

Requirements

• RRT Required
• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Current Massachusetts License as a Respiratory Therapist
• AHA or ARC BLS Healthcare Provider certification
• ACLS certification preferred
• AARC/NBRC membership preferred
• NRP certification required

Schedule

• Length of Shift(s) In Hours: 8 & 12 hours
• Shift Start + End Times: 5:45am‑2:15pm; 1:45pm‑10:15pm; 5:45am‑6:15pm; 6p‑6a; 10p‑6a
• Hours/Week: 24
• Weekend Requirements: Every other Weekend
• Holiday Requirements: 1 Major and 1 Minor Holiday
• On Call Requirements: No
