Responsibilities

• Provide quality patient evaluation
• Thorough medical record evaluation
• Appropriate treatment to maintain or enhance respiratory function
• Evaluate, treat, and care for residents with respiratory issues, including tracheostomies
• Administer bland aerosols and perform suctioning
• Evaluate resident care and outcomes, making recommendations for improvements
• Recommend and provide appropriate treatment and preventive measures
• Manage and wean residents from supplemental oxygen and trachs
• Assist with pulmonary rehabilitation modalities
• Directly care for residents, providing education and support
• Operate respiratory care equipment safely and effectively
• Maintain appropriate respiratory supply stock
• Support nursing staff as needed

Qualifications and Skills

• Active CRT or RRT credentials
• Active license in good standing with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
• CPR certified; ACLS preferred
• Experience in long-term care, home health, LTACH, or sub-acute settings
• Exceptional clinical skills, bedside manner, infection control, and physiological knowledge
• Proficiency in administering medication and maintaining health promotion and maintenance
• Strong verbal communication and listening skills, effective in a medical team environment
• Multi-tasking and problem-solving abilities
