Job Summary
Shift: Days
Job Type: Full Time
Hours: 7:00am - 5:30pm
Schedule: 4 (10) hour shifts per two week pay period. Some weekends required.
Responsibilities
- Performs pulmonary function diagnostic services; including but not limited to: the administration Of pharmacological agents, pulmonary diagnostics (e.g. point of care testing), clinical documentation and reporting, and obtaining patient samples for laboratory analysis.
- P Practices in accordance with regulatory standards and maintains compliance with facility policies and procedures.
- Establishes and maintains professional relationships with colleagues, physicians, and other care providers.
- Acts as a resource/consultant for other respiratory care practitioners and affiliated health care providers on aspects of patient care interventions.
- Maintain and calibrate various PFT equipment according to department policy and manufacturer recommendation.
- Reports unusual patient conditions/reactions when identified to an immediate supervisor, including completion of a facility electronic occurrence report as appropriate.
- Prepares and maintains electronic documentation and billing of all work/services rendered.
- Responsible for outpatient scheduling, including physician orders and authorization verification, and patient appointment reminder calls.
- Helps maintain a safe and organized environment.
- Follows cleaning, disinfection and infection control policies.
- Accurately identifies and addresses patient population specific needs and safety considerations.
- Participates in performance improvement activities, including department and facility-based quality measures.
- Assists with bronchoscopy procedures.
- May be required to assist with inpatient care under the direction of the department leadership.
Qualifications
- Current Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in State of California
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT).
- Or must be obtained within one year of employment for this position.
- Experience in pulmonary function testing.
- Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS Certification
Preferred
- Graduate of a 2-4 year AMA therapist program, or equivalent.
- Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT).
- Experience with bronchoscopy assistance and pulmonary rehabilitation.
- Fluent in Spanish.
