Job Details Description Job Summary Supports, and is responsible for incorporating into job performance, the Frederick Health (FH) mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy and adheres to the FH Compliance Program, including following all regulatory requirements and the FH Standards of Behavior. The Equipment Technician, functioning under the direct supervision of a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP), performs various tasks necessary to support the department. Work occasionally requires internal contacts outside the work group to exchange relevant information. Communication with external contacts involves providing or giving factual information. Example Of Essential Functions Document all appropriate procedures, repair and preventative maintenance of all related equipment used on all age groups.Perform daily equipment processing of all respiratory equipment: Disassemble, process, assemble, and test all respiratory care equipment on a daily basis according to department policies and procedures.Assist in performing inventory of department equipment and supplies.Identify and retrieve all electrical equipment due for calibration and regular preventative maintenance and deliver to the Bio Medical Engineering department on a scheduled basis.Assists by ensuring movement of equipment to departments as needed for patient care at the direction of the RCP.Provide assistance to respiratory care team members. Respond to requests from therapists as necessary, according to department policies and procedures.Maintain respiratory care equipment and supplies within Respiratory Care and on designated patient care units.Par stock respiratory care supplies per department policies and procedures.Assist in maintaining a clean work area in the department: Assure that all supplies are neatly stored and that the work area is cleared of hazards 100% of the time.May assist the bio-medical technician in tracking and/or repair of respiratory care equipmentTransports compressed gas cylinders to patient areas, as required. Performs related duties, as required. Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Must have the ability to use effective communication skills both written and oral in completing job assignments and/or paperwork.Must be able to follow both written and oral directives and comply with any hospital and departmental policy.Position also requires accuracy in checking, posting, counting, performing technical procedures, and interpretation of instrumentation. Minimum Education, Training, And Experience Required High School diploma or equivalent required. Current enrollment in a respiratory therapist program required.One year of previous work experience or educational training in a health care setting preferred, but not required. Physical Demands Medium-Heavy Work – Lifting up to 75 pounds on an infrequent basis (less than one lift every three minutes) and/or carrying up to 35 pounds while walking. Pushing or pulling up to 115 pounds infrequently or greater than 115 pounds occasionally (no more than once per hour). If position is part-time, salary will be pro-rated based on scheduled hours. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on specialty if applicable. Non-Exempt positions may have shift differential and/or Overtime paid, if applicable. Hourly rate range: $17.691- $23.08
