The Respiratory Care Practitioner III position at Mary Immaculate Hospital is open to experienced Respiratory Therapists who can take advantage of a $20,000 sign-on bonus.
Responsibilities
- Provides respiratory care through patient assessment, planning, intervention, education, and evaluation.
- Performs respiratory care procedures including oxygen and aerosolized medication delivery, ventilator care, bronchial hygiene therapy, diagnostic services, and patient and staff education.
- Makes recommendations to change or modify interventions based on patient assessments.
- Supports clinical learning through mentorship, clinical rounds, and practice evaluation.
- Advances professional respiratory practice by providing feedback for coaching and performance evaluations of team members.
- Identifies and implements quality improvement initiatives, designs programs with measurable outcomes, and participates in clinical research.
- Assists with data collection, record keeping, and product evaluation.
- Serves as a shift "Charge Therapist" managing staff, ensuring adequate staffing levels, and assisting with meal coverage.
- Assists physicians with procedures such as bronchoscopy, transtracheal catheter insertion, tracheotomy, and invasive monitoring.
- Conducts CPR, performs arterial punctures, and administers various therapeutic procedures.
- Maintains and evaluates respiratory therapy equipment and supplies.
- Responds to cardiopulmonary resuscitations and participates in active resuscitation efforts.
Requirements
- Current Respiratory Care License in the state of employment (required)
- National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentialed (required)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification (preferred)
- BLS Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association (required)
- ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support from the American Heart Association or Red Cross (required)
- PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support from the American Heart Association (required)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) from AAP/AWHONN (preferred)
- Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) certification (preferred)
- ACCS (Adult Critical Care Specialist) from NBRC (preferred)
Qualifications
- Two years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist or five years CRT (required)
- Demonstrated clinical competency in at least two of the following environments: Nursery/NICU, PICU, ICU/CCU, ED, and general care areas (required)

- Knowledge of chest suction equipment and airway maneuvers
- Ability to assess and educate patients on various respiratory therapies
