RESPIRATORY CARE PRACTITIONER II (Part-Time Contractual)

Part-time contractual position at Deer's Head Hospital Center in Salisbury, MD, responsible for supervising and administering respiratory therapy services, including treatments, rehabilitation, diagnostic evaluations, and care for patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities. Provides technical advice and guidance on respiratory care procedures to subordinate therapists and healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and administer respiratory therapy treatments, rehabilitation, and diagnostic evaluations.
• Provide care for patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system.
• Offer technical advice and guidance on respiratory care procedures to subordinate respiratory therapists and healthcare professionals.

Requirements

• Current license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner from the Maryland State Board of Physicians.
• Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
• One year of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Respiratory Specialist classifications or Respiratory Therapy specialty codes on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
• Successful completion of a medical examination prior to appointment to determine ability to perform the work.
• Must provide a telephone number for contact purposes.
• Subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 06.01.09.

Qualifications

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Physicians under the licensing requirements for a Respiratory Care Practitioner.

• Eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage (medical and prescription) if working 30+ hours per week (or on average 130 hours per month). The State subsidizes 75% of the premium cost; employee pays 25%.

• Leave accrual at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
