Join the Respiratory Team at BJC Healthcare's Christian Hospital as a Respiratory Care Assistant. This is a perfect opportunity for respiratory students to gain hands-on experience while working around your school curriculum.

About the Role

Christian Hospital has been serving St. Louis and the surrounding metro areas since 1903. The hospital is nationally ranked as “high performing” in geriatrics and in seven common procedures and conditions: heart attack, heart failure, kidney failure, diabetes, COPD, pneumonia, and stroke.

Northwest HealthCare, six miles west of Christian Hospital, offers 24-hour emergency care, a Sleep Disorders Center, and various outpatient diagnostic and imaging services. The Physical Therapy Department provides services to patients of all ages with musculoskeletal deficiencies.

Pay

  • $20/hr for less than 1 year of experience
  • $21/hr for greater than 1 year of experience

Must be currently enrolled in a Respiratory School Program. PRN3 shift per 6-week period required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs various basic routine diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory procedures in general care areas according to established standards, procedures, guidelines, and policies.
  • Recognizes and seeks assistance with abnormal findings and/or changes in patient status to other healthcare team members.
  • Effectively communicates by participating in the exchange of information, including documentation, handoff, and collaborative work with the healthcare team.
  • Holds self-accountable and seeks opportunities for continuous learning, feedback, and effective time management.
  • Processes equipment according to manufacturer and industry standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • No prior experience required
  • Basic Cardiovascular Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Must be currently enrolled in a Respiratory School Program

Preferred Qualifications

  • Respiratory Educational Permit (MO Only)
