About the Role
Since 1937, Alton Memorial Hospital has cared for residents in Alton, Illinois, and the surrounding communities in a five-county area. The hospital offers a variety of inpatient and outpatient services, including surgery, medical imaging, heart services, cancer care, rehabilitation, 24-hour emergency care, and ambulance services.
The Respiratory Therapy department consists of certified and registered therapists who treat diseases of the pulmonary system. As a Respiratory Care Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide basic routine patient care activities.
Pay
- $20/hour for less than 1 year of experience
- $21/hour for greater than 1 year of experience
Responsibilities
- Performs various basic routine diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory procedures in general care areas according to established standards, procedures, guidelines, and policies.
- Recognizes and seeks assistance with abnormal findings and/or changes in patient status by communicating with other healthcare team members.
- Effectively communicates by participating in the exchange of information, including documentation, handoff, and collaborative work with the healthcare team.
- Holds self-accountable, seeks continuous learning and feedback, and prioritizes and applies effective time management.
- Processes equipment according to manufacturer and industry standards.
Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled in a Respiratory School Program.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- No prior experience required.
- Basic Cardiovascular Life Support (BCLS) certification preferred.
- Respiratory Educational Permit (MO Only) preferred.
