Resources Geologist

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Geologist, the Resources Geologist will supervise exploration drilling and hourly staff. The role is responsible for field mapping, core logging, geological modeling, and ore control.

Responsibilities

• Comply with the Company’s Safety Awareness program, office, and field safety policies.
• Long-term Resource and Reserve Block Model construction based on drilling information, including:
  • Model configuration: basic statistical analysis, capping, variography, interpolation set-up (Ordinary Kriging, Nearest Neighbor), dilution control, and dispersion variance.
  • Resources classification, tonnage, and grade reporting.
• 3D Geological modeling, including:
  • Lithological, alteration, and mineralization wireframes.
  • Structural (fault and main structures) modeling.
• QAQC analysis to ensure the quality of drilling information used for models, including:
  • Samples insertion and validation.
  • Duplicates, blank, and standards charts preparation and review.
• Database management and administration supervision, including data input and output configuration.
• Geotechnical models for hardness, Load Point test, and UCS.
• Geometallurgical models for hardness and mineralogical data using linear or nonlinear correlation, machine learning, or advanced techniques.
• Infill drilling plans to target uncertainty zones in the block model and confirm potential ore.
• Exploration drilling plans to extend the Life of Mine in ore potential zones.
• Medium-term block model based on diamond drilling and blast holes.
• Short-term block model based on blast holes.
• Ore stockpiles model configuration and updates.
• Long- and short-term resource block model and process plant reconciliation.
• Support in drilling monitoring and logging.
• Support in surface mapping.
• Participate in budget programs and due diligence.
• Develop an understanding of industry codes and standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology, Mining, or a related discipline from a four-year accredited college or university, or demonstrated equivalent.
• Three (3) to seven (7) years of experience in the geological field.
• Robust knowledge of geostatistics; a Master’s degree in Geostatistics or Economic Geology is a plus.
• Advanced proficiency in mining software: Mineplan, Datamine, Micromine, or Leapfrog.
• Intermediate skills in database software: Acquire, Datashed.
• Background in open-pit and hard rock mine planning is preferred.

• Specific vision abilities may be required for this position.

Work Environment

• Work near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions, including hot and/or dry conditions.
• Exposure to noise, fumes, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
• Must possess a current and valid driver’s license.
