About the role

The R1 Special Education Base Paraeducator provides instructional, social-emotional, behavioral, and supervisory support to students receiving special education services. Working under the direction of certificated staff, the paraeducator assists students in accessing instruction, participating successfully in the school environment, and making progress toward academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and independence goals identified through their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The R1 Base Paraeducator is assigned to the R1 special education program and may support multiple students throughout the school day in a variety of educational settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support to students with special education needs
• Deliver social-emotional and behavioral support
• Offer supervisory support, including recess and lunch supervision as assigned
• Assist students in accessing instruction and participating successfully in the school environment
• Support student progress toward academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and independence goals outlined in IEPs
• Work under the direction of certificated staff across multiple educational settings
• Support multiple students throughout the school day as needed
