About the role

Manufacturing Plant
Reports to: Plant Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Production Supervisor, Shift Supervisor/Lead, or Production Lead.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up, starts and runs all machinery, checking all controls for adherence to operating/safety procedures and ISO standards.
  • Weighs ingredients to meet recipe specification and inserts into machinery, or ensures the correct ingredients are delivered to the work area and inserts pre-blended materials into machinery.
  • Makes sure production and equipment are operating safely and efficiently.
  • Troubleshoots equipment and processing issues.
  • Operates machinery to mix, extrude/discharge or handle materials according to operating procedures.
  • Examines materials visually or physically to ensure conformance with established standards.
  • Takes samples of materials to lab for evaluation and instructs on any batch adjustments if needed.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel of any issues, problems or concerns in a timely manner.
  • Safely and neatly processes, batch offs, screens, cuts up, packages and/or skids material to correct size/container according to customer specifications.
  • Accurately supplies/supports Production Operators with appropriate materials/functions to efficiently keep all equipment operational.
  • Completes and maintains all required system inputs/transactions.
  • Responsible for data integrity.
  • Obtains the correct documentation for the batch.
  • Sets up and starts any weigh-up or packaging machinery, checking all controls for adherence to operating/safety procedures.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel of any issues, problems or concerns in a timely manner.
  • Safely and neatly processes, batch offs, screens, cuts up, packages and/or skids material to correct size/container according to customer specifications.
  • Accurately supplies/supports Production Operators with appropriate materials/functions to efficiently keep all equipment operational.
  • Completes and maintains required paperwork and/or documents.
  • Fulfills all required machine cleaning.
  • Follows and complies with all safety and work rules and regulations.
  • Maintains departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • At least one (1) - (3) years of experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    • Self-motivated with strong organization skills and ability to multi-task.
    • Time management skills.
    • Reads and comprehends written and oral instructions in English; reads and comprehends safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and product recipes/material identifications.
    • Mathematical skill to add, subtract, multiply and divide and the ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
    • Effective communication one-on-one and in small group situations.
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a wide variety of small hand tools, scales, hand trucks, fork lift, utility knife, and mixer/secondary machinery and computer equipment.
