Core Duties

  • Serves as the Stanford University Wildfire Resilience Program Manager
  • Accountable for completing projects as directed by the WFMP Plan and Wildfire Resilience Steering Committee
  • Completes vegetation management, frequent field visits, community communications, and collaboration with local fire agencies and groups
  • Provides leadership and performs work towards the completion and management of the website and annual report
  • Manages vendors, contracts, purchase orders, invoices, and access to properties
  • Holds re-occurring operations focused meetings with diverse internal stakeholders to drive initiatives forward
  • PARTNERS WITH AND MANAGES CONSULTANTS TO ENSURE PROPER DOCUMENTATION, PROJECT COMPLETION, AND INNOVATION IN METHODOLOGIES AND BEST PRACTICES ARE UTILIZED
  • Ensures safety, environmental, biological, and cultural sensitivities are adhered to by collaborating with Stanford’s Conservation and Archaeological departments
  • Performs industry engagement and outreach, research development, and community representation of the Wildfire Resilience Program

Resilience & Emergency Response: Operations, Planning, Logistics, & Communications

  • Responds to campus and utility emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Issue emergency alerts to internal customers and stakeholders
  • Manages and audits emergency response supply inventory
  • Maintains awareness of weather conditions and communicates National Weather Service Alerts
  • SUPPORTS RESPONSE AND RESILIENCE INITIATIVES INCLUDING EMERGENCY GENERATOR OPERATIONS AND MANAGEMENT (SMART FUEL SENSORS EXPANSION)
  • Develops detailed documentation including Building Occupant Emergency Action Plans
  • SUPPORTS SAFETY, RESILIENCE AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE DURING LARGE EVENTS AT THE STANFORD MAIN CAMPUS
  • SUPPORTS THE ADOPTION OF ENTERPRISE-WIDE BUSINESS CONTINUITY SOFTWARE
  • SUPPORTS AND EXECUTES EMERGENCY GENERATOR REFUELING OPERATIONS
  • IDENTIFIES OPPORTUNITIES TO ENHANCE SAFETY AND RESILIENCE; PROVIDES TECHNICAL PROPOSALS IDENTIFYING SOLUTIONS TO THE SAFETY, RESILIENCE AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE STEERING COMMITTEE
  • COORDINATES TRAINING & TABLETOP EXERCISES
  • HOLDS TWO OR MORE TABLETOP EXERCISES ANNUALLY
  • PROVIDES TWO OR MORE TRAINING SESSIONS FOR EVERBARKER AUTHORIZED USERS (LBRE ALARMS) ANNUALLY
  • PROVIDES TRAINING ON OPERATIONAL BASEMAP (GIS) USAGE FOR EMERGENCY RESPONSE TO ALL STANFORD UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OPERATIONS CENTERS
  • PROVIDES TRAINING TO DEPARTMENT STAFF WHO ASSIST IN EMERGENCIES AND/OR ARE ASSIGNED A ROLE IN THE LAND, BUILDINGS AND REAL ESTATE (LBRE) DEPARTMENT OPERATIONS CENTER
  • LEADS RER DOCUMENTATION EFFORTS
  • LEADS THE EMERGENCY RESPONSE MANUAL (ERM) ANNUAL UPDATES
  • SUPPORTS FACILITY DIRECTOR LIASON INITIATIVES
  • CORPORATES WITH ENERGY OPERATIONS AND OTHER OPERATIONAL GROUPS TO STAY APPRISSED OF WORK THAT WARRANTS SPECIAL COMMUNICATIONS TO FACILITY DIRECTORS AND UTILITY CUSTOMERS
  • REVIEWS AND PREPARES COMMUNICATIONS TO FACILITY DIRECTORS
  • SUPPORTS OUTREACH AND COORDINATION WITH FACILITY DIRECTORS FOR RESEARCH RESILIENCE AND NEW INITIATIVES

Qualifications

  • Seven years progressively responsible experience in occupational safety and health, emergency response/management, environmental science, and/or allied/scientific field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct effective health and safety surveys, quantitative and qualitative exposure/ risk assessments, and most complex data analyses; ability to provide recommendations for exposure/risk control.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with diverse audiences; ability to explain technical concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Working knowledge of the scientific and technical aspects of various regulatory requirements and potential impact on assigned work area(s).
  • Demonstrated supervisory/coaching expertise.
