Pay
Full‑time, W‑2 position with an hourly range of $42.00 to $50.00+ plus uncapped commission, spiffs, and on‑call premium. Realistic first‑year earnings for a licensed journeyman are $100,000+; with on‑call and overtime, $125,000+ is attainable. Three compensation plans are offered: a higher flat hourly rate, a base plus uncapped commission on every job, or pure commission—candidates choose at offer time after a detailed earnings projection. The first 45 days include a guaranteed weekly floor (not a draw) that is never clawed back. On‑call work pays a premium on a published rotation, and holiday/overtime premiums stack on top. Additional spiffs provide at least three ways to earn extra bonuses.
Responsibilities
- Run residential service and repair calls from start to finish (leaks, drains, fixtures, sewer lines, gas lines, sump and ejector pumps).
- Diagnose accurately on the first visit and present straightforward pricing options for homeowner approval before any work begins.
- Install and replace water heaters (tank and tankless), water softeners, filtration, and water‑treatment systems.
- Perform drain cleaning, descaling, hydro‑jetting, and camera inspections.
- Conduct whole‑home plumbing inspections, flagging real problems before they become emergencies.
- Handle the entire call: diagnosis, conversation, pricing, repair, cleanup, and paperwork.
- Test every part of the job before leaving and confirm proper operation.
- Explain work performed in plain language without condescension.
- Wear floor savers and leave the home cleaner than found.
- Work to Wisconsin plumbing code (SPS 382 and 384) under the supervision of the Master Plumber of record.
- Maintain a clean, stocked, and organized van and keep digital records accurate.
Requirements
- Active Wisconsin DSPS plumbing license (Journeyman Plumber, Journeyman Plumber Restricted Appliance, or Master Plumber).
- 3+ years of hands‑on residential service and repair experience; new‑construction or commercial experience is welcome but not required.
- Proficiency with drain cleaning, hydro‑jetting, and camera inspection; re‑pipe experience is a strong plus.
- Proven ability to run calls unsupervised and make independent decisions on‑site.
- Comfort presenting tiered pricing and discussing money with homeowners.
- Strong diagnostic instinct—identifying root causes, not just symptoms.
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license with an insurable driving record.
- Ability to lift 50+ lb and work in crawl spaces, attics, and tight mechanical rooms.
- Pass a background check and pre‑employment non‑THC drug screen.
- Out‑of‑state license holders may sit for the Wisconsin exam after a 5‑year apprenticeship or comparable journeyman experience.
