Responsibilities

  • Convert internally generated mortgage leads into mortgage loans.
  • Assess potential borrowers' needs and guide them through the loan process.
  • Originating mortgage loans for Bank OZK’s employees.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with past customers and their network of professionals.
  • Create rapport and trust with customers and referring partners.
  • Counsel customers to identify mortgage loan needs and options.
  • Absolutely complete and deliver initial disclosures.
  • Take complete, accurate, and compliant loan applications.
  • Order credit reports and resolve all discrepancies.
  • Input loan information into computer systems.
  • Utilize Automated Underwriting Systems for decisioning loans.
  • Order appraisals.
  • Cross-sell the customer on the use of other Bank products.
  • Proactively communicate loan status and progress to the customer.
  • Analyze property appraisals for Investor compliance.
  • Travel on Bank business.
  • Regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of essential job functions.
  • Maintain good punctuality and attendance to work.
  • Follow Bank policy, procedures, and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or commensurate work experience and two years of residential mortgage or banking experience, OR high school diploma and three years of residential mortgage or banking experience, required.
  • NMLS, or successful completion of NMLS process within 30 days of hire, required.
  • Experience working in Encompass, preferred.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of lending criteria/business needs, lending systems, and regulatory/investor lending guidelines.
  • Knowledge of loan origination needs and milestones (i.e., origination, processing, underwriting, closing, products, vendor interfaces).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work without close supervision.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with exacting deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and bank secrecy.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills.
  • Skill in using computer and Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
