Residential Helper

About the role

The Commercial Helper I rides on the vehicle and assists a Driver in providing prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services for customers on a designated residential route. This position is responsible for safely loading waste, carrying bags and containers to the vehicle, and assisting the Driver in maneuvering the vehicle by providing ground direction. The Helper also helps maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle and work area.

Responsibilities

• Ride on the vehicle to assist the Driver while servicing customers on a designated route.
• Operate packing mechanism and various levers to activate lifting and loading mechanisms.
• Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip; spray and clean the hopper and truck as applicable.
• Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle in accordance with Company policy; report any safety issues.
• Courteously interact with customers, dispatchers, and others to ensure timely and professional service.
• Monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable materials.
• Clean accidental waste spills while adhering to safety standards and policies.
• Maintain productivity standards to ensure timely service for all customers.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate good customer service skills, professionalism, and trustworthiness.
• Adhere to work schedules and Company policies; promote safety standards.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Two years of relevant work experience is preferred.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $18.85 to $25.90 per hour, depending on the locality of hire.
