Residential Electrician
Summary
Residential Electricians are responsible for installation, maintenance, and repairs of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures for residential (single-family homes, apartments, and large scale housing complexes) customers while providing excellent customer service.
Essential Functions
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools
- Diagnosing and repairing electrical issues
- Installation of electrical systems, such as ceiling fans, lighting, GFCIs/GFIs (ground fault circuit interrupters), panel upgrades, breaker replacements, electric vehicle charging stations, and entertainment systems
- Establish and foster client relationships through strong communication and customer service
- Upgrade a home to be more energy efficient
- New wiring and circuits
- Travel to job sites in service area, and work with dispatch to ensure schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated to customers
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system
- Understand and apply blueprints and technical diagrams with the ability to layout, plan and install electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes
- Maintain good working order of Company vehicle (i.e., safety checks, maintenance, etc.)
- Maintain proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment in the vehicle in a clean and organized fashion
- Understand Company pricing and generate appropriate customer invoices at job site
- Participate in Company provided training and comply with all code regulations
- Adhere to all Company safety rules
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3-5 years of proven experience as an Electrician (residential and/or light commercial)
- Class I or Class II Georgia Electrical Contractor License (a plus)
- Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter etc.) and electrical drawings and blueprints
- Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines
- Excellent critical thinking and problems solving ability
- Mechanical aptitude
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with a strong desire to exceed customer expectations
- Results driven in a high energy environment
- Attention to detail
- Must pass MVR screening and maintain a good driving record
- Must be able to follow directions and work independently
- Must be proficient in the use of smart phones, tablets and other mobile devices
