Residential Counselor I/II AON
About the Role
WellPower is seeking a Residential Counselor to join our team at our 30-day transition shelter for individuals aged 18 and up who recently utilized crisis services. As a Residential Counselor, you will facilitate and support consumers in various activities of daily living (ADLs), group therapy, intakes/discharges, medication monitoring, and creating a safe environment. You will also help coordinate treatment and advocate for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual psychotherapy to offer support and insight.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions within the house.
- Coordinate clinical care with case management and other services.
- Assess consumers throughout the workday and provide appropriate interventions.
- Encourage, support, and train consumers in ADLs, including hygiene, appointments, and household chores.
- Complete intake and discharge tasks for new and departing residents.
- Maintain household safety and perform chores such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry.
- Document significant consumer interactions and clinical care.
- Respond to emergencies and facilitate interventions as needed.
- Advocate for acceptance and integration of individuals with mental illness in the community.
- Maintain a trauma-informed environment of wellbeing.
- Attend scheduled team meetings.
Qualifications
- Education:
- RC I: Pursuing Bachelor's Degree in social work, psychology, human services, or related field; or seeking Certified Nurse’s Aid (C.N.A.) or Home Health Aid (HHA) Certification preferred.
- RC II: Bachelor's Degree in social work, psychology, human services, or related field.
- Experience: One year of mental health experience or in a related field preferred. Must be 21 years of age to apply.
- Certifications: QMAP (Qualified Medication Administration Person), CPR & First Aid.

Schedule
Awake overnight shift, Sunday - Tuesday, from 8 PM to 8 AM.
Physical Requirements
Requires sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and performing household tasks. Must be able to climb stairs, move throughout the house, and respond quickly to emergencies. May require lifting up to 50 pounds.

RCI – $27.79/hr
