About the role

We are hiring a Teacher/Counselor (Residential Counselor) to work with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) in one of our residential programs. We seek an enthusiastic individual who will bring their personality, an independent work ethic, and a strong belief in enhancing the lives of those we serve. Candidates must have related or direct experience working with the community we serve.

Responsibilities

• Promote optimal health for individuals through routine, preventive, and emergency health care.
• Assist with all hands-on direct care, including but not limited to: showering, toileting, shaving, brushing teeth, and meal-time assistance.
• Ensure residential environments are safe, secure, and free from harm.
• Provide education, training, counseling, and physical assistance to achieve ISP goals in areas such as functional academics, domestic skills, health and personal hygiene, social and leisure skills, communication skills, community mobility, self-esteem, and money management.
• Develop, write, and present annual ISPs and semi-annual assessments in consultation with other residential staff and directors.
• Provide transportation to individuals as necessary.
• Communicate with persons significant to the individual served (e.g., family, friends, guardians, funding sources, advocates, volunteers, employers) to facilitate consistency of programming and support.
• Perform case management duties, including maintenance of individual confidential files, ensuring cases are reviewed, documentation of activities, and training.
• Attend regular meetings as necessary.

Requirements

• Experience working with individuals with ID/DD.
• A Bachelor’s degree or an associate degree in a related field with two years of experience, or a high school diploma and five years of related work experience in human services.
• Must pass fingerprint background check, CORI, DPPC, and driving background checks.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Valid MAP certification is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Schedule

• Saturdays: 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM
• Saturdays: 10:00 PM – 9:00 AM (overnight)
• Sundays: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Mondays: 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM
• Mondays: 10:00 PM – 9:00 AM (overnight)
• Tuesdays: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Total hours: 56 hours per week.

Pay

$69,888 per year.
