Residential Area Director - ID/DD Services

What You Will Do

The Area Director – DD/IDD Services oversees all residential programs and services across the assigned geographic region. You’ll provide leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight to ensure high-quality services for individuals with disabilities while supporting operational growth and developing new business opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Leadership & Team Development: Lead, mentor, support Program Directors across assigned residential programs while promoting accountability, collaboration, communication, and operational consistency.
• Community & Relationship Building: Build positive relationships with families, community partners, referral sources, and external stakeholders while representing Dungarvin throughout the community and supporting regional partnership and growth opportunities.
• Compliance & Operational Oversight: Oversee residential program operations to ensure compliance with state regulations, licensing requirements, Medicaid Waiver standards, HCBS expectations, and organizational policies.
• Financial & Performance Management: Monitor operational performance, staffing trends, budgets, expenses, and program performance across assigned services while partnering with leadership teams to support financial health, operational stability, and long-term program success.

Qualifications

To be a great fit for this role, you should have:

• Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field (e.g. health care, social services, education, behavioral science, or counseling)
• Minimum of seven years' experience in the field of developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, or mental health with progressive levels of responsibility; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• Four years’ experience as a supervisor or manager.
• Understanding of person-centered supports, residential operations, Medicaid/SCL/Michelle P Waiver services, and compliance in accordance to the state's standards
• Working knowledge of federal and state regulations governing the facilities and programs for individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and the ability to adapt to new technology platforms.
• Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets agency insurance requirements.

Schedule

Typically, 8 AM – 5 PM EST, with flexibility as needed to meet deadlines or support initiatives, on call as needed. Some travel is required, for intermittent and extended overnight trips.
