Responsibilities

  • Performs field audits of single family residential property to verify assessment records by reviewing, measuring and making necessary data changes.
  • Performs inspections of single family residential property where preliminary values indicate an increase of more than 15 percent by verifying the physical characteristics, conducting valuation reviews and interviewing property owners onsite.
  • Responds to property owner inquiries in person and on the telephone.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • One year of related experience; or any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

The work rules for the St. Louis County Assessor's Office require all employees, whether they reside in St. Louis County or elsewhere, to remain current in the payment of their personal and real property taxes.

Special Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Benefits

Comprehensive benefits package including paid medical insurance, 20 days of PTO (paid time off) the first year and increasing with seniority, and 11-12 paid holidays. Employees hired for full time employment will participate in the St. Louis County retirement plan where they contribute 4% of their salary to the defined benefit plan with vesting after 7 years. Other benefits include: paid life insurance, a credit union, 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, pre-tax premium pay plan, dependent care and medical expense reimbursement plans, and short and long term disability insurance.

Pay

The typical starting salary is $18.07 hourly.

Schedule

Work hours are typically Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm.
