About the role

Under the direct supervision of a Shift Supervisor, Residential Aides assist program residents with:

  • Development of Activities of Daily Living Skills, including laundry, meal preparation and cleanup, personal hygiene, and maintaining a schedule of activities;
  • Maintaining inventory of food and dry goods, as well as maintenance needs;
  • Providing clients with an orientation of the facility, services, and personal care items upon arrival;
  • Site coverage and security procedures;
  • Client care and crisis intervention;
  • Providing emergency first aid/CPR assistance;
  • Administration of opiate overdose prevention intervention when needed;
  • Related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Work Performance

  • Ensure high-quality service delivery, including participation in monthly departmental meetings and scheduled supervision.
  • Meet all training standards and use crisis prevention and intervention skills when needed.
  • Ensure 100% of clients have access to services (meals, laundry, toiletries, etc.).
  • Maintain inventory of departmental supplies and report maintenance needs.
  • Stay informed of and comply with Part 491/900 Regulations, the Callaghan Decree, and all funding source requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to the program schedule (e.g., bed signing, dorm inspections, linen exchange, medication monitoring, workshops).
  • Maintain working knowledge of all technological systems used by the program and affiliates.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with all ANH-affiliated providers.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Complete, review, and submit all internal and external reports on time.
  • Ensure all work outputs are substantive.
  • Complete client orientations within 24 hours of entry.
  • Document hospital follow-ups in CARES within one shift.
  • Complete incident reports in CARES within one shift of occurrence.
  • Use the CARES Waitlist to assign beds appropriately.
  • Ensure bed signing is accurate and compliant with DHS policies.
  • Use Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) to guide staff performance.

Client Engagement

  • Provide excellent customer service to every client.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of client information.
  • Follow ANH’s Standards and Code of Conduct.
  • Model appropriate behavior for clients.

Time and Attendance

  • Adhere to assigned work schedule and minimize unscheduled absences.
  • Use time management skills to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently.

Professional Conduct

  • Perform duties with professionalism and quality.
  • Provide interdepartmental support when needed.
  • Follow the Dress Code Policy.
  • Serve as a resource to clients and colleagues.
  • Maintain open communication with all departments, IVC/HERO, DHS Administration, and community partners.
  • Comply with electronic communication policies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • F-02 Certificate.
  • Food Handler’s Certificate.
  • CPR & First Aid certification.
  • Overdose Prevention Rescue Training.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office).
  • Knowledge of internet and email services.

Physical Demands

This position involves Medium Work, requiring exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently.

  • Frequent bending, lifting, reaching, pushing, extended walking, and extended standing.
  • Frequent typing.
  • Almost never climbing, crouching, or crawling.
  • Seldom extended sitting.

Work Environment

  • Majority of work is completed in the office/program, with occasional trips to the community/other sites.
  • Shift work required (Sun–Thurs: 12am–8am).
  • Subject to infectious waste (typical of most patient care/housekeeping positions).
  • Subject to inside environmental conditions.

Supervision

This position receives close supervision, with daily oversight of work, day-to-day tasks, methods, and functions.
