Residential Advisor/Direct Care Support

Summary

Peckham Inc. is seeking Residential Advisors/Direct Care Support staff to provide a family atmosphere to six adult men with developmental disabilities. This role requires adherence to licensing rules, fostering independence, and promoting social skills.

Responsibilities

• Comply with Adult Foster Care licensing rules and guidelines
• Maintain records and documentation
• Encourage cooperation, self-esteem, and independence
• Facilitate resident development and participation in educational and employment programs
• Plan and facilitate leisure and recreational activities
• Prepare and oversee meal preparation
• Dispense medications as prescribed
• Monitor sleep hours and resident safety
• Oversee rehabilitation exercises
• Communicate with parents/guardians as needed
• Prepare and submit necessary paperwork and reports

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1 month of experience preferred
• Unrestricted Michigan driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
• Ability to travel 40% of the time
• Ability to obtain First Aid, CPR, and company-specific training

Physical Demands

The position involves frequent physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, and engaging in physical play. Tasks may also include occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, carrying, running, and moving furniture. Employees will frequently communicate with and actively supervise others, requiring strong coordination. The work environment is dynamic, with frequent exposure to noise, active settings, and occasional use of cleaning agents. Conditions may involve rare exposure to temperature changes, confined spaces, or allergens.
