Residential Advisor

About the role

MTC is proud to operate the Charleston Job Corps Center in Charleston, WV. Our staff provides quality services to local youth, fostering an environment conducive to character development and promoting positive behavior patterns.

Responsibilities

• Monitors students living on residential floors to ensure compliance with Center rules and regulations.
• Fosters an atmosphere conducive to character development through encouraging favorable behavior patterns.
• Facilitates prompt and appropriate assistance in case of injury, illness, traumatic experiences, and emotional distress; documents student activity and incidents.
• Patrols and monitors dormitories to ensure safety and proper behavior of students.
• Affords assistance in organizing and participating in recreational activities both on and off campus.
• Assists in the cleanup and maintenance of dormitory areas.
• Promotes, supports, and provides positive customer service throughout the facility.
• Participates in student employability programs and activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year's related experience working with youth preferred.
• A valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Skills

• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive situations with care and professionalism.
• Knowledge of youth development principles.
• Basic computer skills.

Pay

$17.54 per hour.

Schedule

Varies, Full Time, 8-hour shifts (3:00pm - 12:00am) or (11:30pm - 8:30am) Monday 1pm to 10pm, Tuesday 1pm to 10pm, Wednesday 1pm to 10pm, Thursday & Friday off, Saturday 1pm to 10pm and Sunday 11am to 8pm.
