Job Purpose
Represent Sanmina as a Resident Engineer in Tesla Gigafactory in Reno, Nevada (On-site)
Nature of Duties/Responsibilities
- Calculate staffing personnel for sorting and/or rework activities
- Follow-up on RFQs with Sanmina purchasing to close supplier’s payments (account payable)
- Coordinate activities to start with the initial containment actions and their effectiveness
- Develop work Inspection/Instructions for Sorting and/or Rework purposes and testing equipment selection
- Provide coaching and training to the Sorting company
- Guide, coordinate and supervise selected sorting companies
- Feedback Sanmina operations in real-time about product performance
- Provide & follow up on Clean Point Shipment dates, including product traceability and status
- Follow up and support the filling of information for each SCAR on the Tesla supplier portal, including shipping RMA parts to Sanmina facilities to initiate the root cause analysis process
- Coordinate Root Cause Analysis with their representative Team in Sanmina operations including deep dive information in support of the root cause analysis process
- Align with quality engineering teams to dispose of suspected material
- Understand failure analysis based on product schematics drawings, product/process diagrams, layouts and any other customer requirement and/or specifications
- Maintain Sanmina's quality performance metrics at Tesla incoming material & warehousing operations
- Establish positive relationships with Tesla Staff SQE Manager to meet & exceed customer’s expectations and directions
- Interact with Sanmina Plant Organizations to comply with company policy, processes and procedures
- Responsible for providing frequent reports on the performance of Sanmina finished products at Tesla factory
- Responsible for a real-time communication of potential Sanmina issues in Tesla factory, including the initiation of the Sanmina escalation process
- Support activities related to Tesla's QIP (Quality Improvement Plan) to align Tesla's Supplier Quality Metrics in Target
Competence Requirements
- IATF16949 standard & automotive quality management system
- AIAG Core Tools (PFMEAs, PPAP, Control Plans, process flow diagrams)
- Problem solving methodologies such as 8D methodology, ishikawa diagram, fault tree analysis, hypothesis table, three-legs five why’s, etc
- Tesla customer specific requirements experience (preferred)
- General knowledge in IPC-A-610 & JEDEC standards
- General knowledge in manufacturing methods of electronic printed circuit board assemblies
- General knowledge in manufacturing methods of modular assemblies, including testing (automation is preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (excel, power point, word, email)
- Overall knowledge of the SAP, Oracle and Agile applications
- Understand quality methodologies knowledge on measurement system analysis & statistical tools such as process control/charts, SPC, GR&R and CpKs

- Capable of providing constructive feedback and maintain confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English along with strong attention to detail, flexibility, and prioritization
- Team leadership while demonstrating reliability, initiative, and desire to learn and teach
- Be able to work in a fast pace environment and flexibility on a changing work schedule
Relevant work experience
- + 4 years of experience in the automotive industry or similar
- Demonstrate working experience and knowledge in the automotive quality management system
- Technical savvy on electronics engineering applications
- Green belt on six sigma is preferable
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or similar.
- English proficiency required (bilingual to Spanish language is preferable)
