Resident Engineer - Network Security (Fortinet)
About the role
Own the network security backbone for a major financial services enterprise. What you'll own:
- Day to day operation and support of enterprise Fortinet infrastructure for a high security, financial services environment
- Building methods of procedure (MOPs) for migrations, upgrades and releases that hold up under audit
- Testing new features and releases before they touch production
- Verifying configurations against best practice, not just "it works" but "it's right"
- Evaluating how third party devices interoperate with Fortinet products
- Training client staff so they are not dependent on you for everything
- Being the person who catches issues early and escalates the ones that matter
Requirements
- 7+ years in LAN/WAN/Internet consulting, support or administration
- 5+ years with network security products; 2+ years specifically with Fortinet
- Strong hands on Fortinet firewall expertise
- Strong knowledge of Fortinet SD-WAN design, with hands on experience configuring SD-WAN in a global architecture
- ADVPN experience a strong plus
- 2 to 3 Fortinet certifications preferred; certifications aligned to the EPSP track are the best case scenario
- Solid grounding in switching, routing, load balancing, WiFi, firewalls, IPS, VPN, antivirus, antispam, web filtering and application control
- Prior experience in a professional services or consulting engineer capacity, a strong plus
- Comfort working in a regulated, high stakes financial environment where precision matters
- The judgment to work independently, and the collaboration skills to work well with client stakeholders at every level
- Excellent troubleshooting instincts and the composure to handle shifting priorities without losing the thread
- Willingness to travel as needed
Qualifications
Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
