Job Summary
A Resident District Manager (RDM) in higher education is a senior-level leader overseeing large-scale, campus-wide dining and hospitality operations, often generating revenues exceeding $12 million. This role is responsible for maintaining strong client relationships with university leadership, driving financial performance (P&L), developing high-performing teams, and leading operational innovation across campus dining programs.
Key Responsibilities and Roles
- Operational Leadership: Directs all aspects of multi-unit dining operations, including residential dining halls, retail food concepts, and catering services, ensuring excellence in quality, service, and efficiency.
- Client Relations & Strategy: Serves as the primary liaison between the company and university administration, ensuring alignment with campus culture, student needs, and institutional goals while maintaining high guest satisfaction.
- Financial Management: Oversees full P&L accountability, including budgeting, forecasting, cost controls, and revenue growth strategies to ensure strong financial performance.
- Team Leadership: Recruits, develops, and leads management and frontline teams, fostering a culture of accountability, diversity, safety, and continuous improvement.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Experience: Demonstrated success in higher education dining, hospitality, or contract foodservice management, typically with 5+ years in senior leadership roles.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, hospitality management, or a related field is generally required.
- Skills: Strong business acumen, strategic leadership, client engagement expertise, and a passion for innovation in food and service delivery.
