Duties And Responsibilities
- Lives on-site and participates in the duty-response rotation to include Discovery House, South Campus Commons, and The Courtyards at University of Maryland.
- Be visible and accessible to residents, role modeling responsible behavior and personal integrity.
- Individually interact and engage with students.
- Serve as a resource and referral agent for residents through personal interaction.
- Meet with students involving student conduct issues.
- Promote a safe and inclusive environment for all residents and address any concerns in a timely and effective manner.
- Effectively respond to and manage emergency and/or crisis situations.
- Facilitate/lead mediations between roommates.
- Directly oversee a vibrant RA programming model to engage the community.
- Directly oversee health and safety inspections and resident follow up.
- Participate in fire drills and oversee resident follow up.
- Utilizes Star Rez, Entrata, and other database systems to ensure accurate record keeping of student information.
- Support and assist in the implementation large scale efforts including move-in, turn, move-out, tours, information sessions, and open leasing.
- Aid in social media, website, and publication content creation.
- Assist with budget oversight related to RA staff and programming.
- Walk-through community on a regular basis for cleanliness and facilities needs.
- Provide a weekly report to the Assistant Director-Resident Life.
- Assist the Assistant Director-Resident Life and Associate Director-Resident Experience with other duties/projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.
- 1-2 years of Residence Life experience.
- Experience working with on-campus student populations.
- Must have comfort and confidence in managing confidential crisis issues.
- Possess effective skills in customer service, group facilitation, leadership, and organization.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and campus partners.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and student housing management software.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (e.g., copier, computer, telephone).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to live on-site and participate on on-call duty rotation.
- Ability to move/lift up to 35 pounds.
