Resident Connections Coordinator
About the role
The Resident Connections Coordinator (RCC) plays a vital role in supporting residents at Wihinaphe Apartments—a new affordable housing community opening in September 2026 above the Native American Community Clinic in Minneapolis. This position is part of a Supportive Housing Services partnership between NACC and Simpson Housing Services, providing culturally responsive, holistic support to residents with disabilities, formerly homeless single adults, and families. The RCC will work closely with internal and external teams, including Simpson Housing Services and Wellington Management, to help residents maintain stable housing, access community resources, and foster engagement and leadership.
Hours for this position are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
Responsibilities
- Welcome new residents, build relationships, and explain the resident services program while offering information and support for accessing resources.
- Develop supportive professional relationships with residents to enhance their quality of life, empower self-sufficiency, and encourage progress toward personal goals.
- Identify, develop, and maintain referral partnerships with local social service agencies to assist residents with education, employment, mental and physical health, and basic needs. This includes accessing mental health crisis services or Adult Protective Services when needed.
- Partner with Property Management to support residents at risk of eviction, helping them quickly resolve issues.
- Provide flexible services that meet the needs of participants, including after-hours support as required.
- Facilitate resident meetings with Property Management and organize community engagement activities such as support groups, movie/game nights, resident leadership councils, health education workshops, and social celebrations, sometimes with outside volunteers.
- Support and lead team members to enhance community engagement at Wihinaphe Apartments.
- Ensure residents are informed about opportunities to participate in program direction and have systematic access to express concerns and drive positive change.
- Encourage and facilitate resident leadership through the Resident Planning Committee (RPC) and other leadership opportunities.
- Communicate and coordinate services with team members from NACC, Simpson Housing Services, and Wellington Management. Attend regular team meetings and other required gatherings.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff, volunteers, participants, and other stakeholders.
- Network with other community providers offering similar services.
- Maintain accurate and thorough electronic documentation, including case notes, signed data privacy forms, intake and discharge summaries, and Releases of Information in Client Track.
- Comply with documentation requirements for MN Housing and Hennepin County Housing Support.
- Maintain accurate records of employee time sheets and travel expenses.
- Participate in funding reports and site visits as requested.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with individuals who are homeless or have experienced homelessness.
- Broad knowledge of housing resources.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a car.

- Knowledge of the Harm Reduction/Housing First Model and commitment to its principles.
- Understanding of trauma-informed service and motivational interviewing techniques.
- Up-to-date knowledge of community resources and trends affecting the resident population.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact positively and professionally with residents, providers, landlords, family members, and others.
- Ability to promote a professional, affirming, respectful, and inclusive work environment.
- Organizational skills and ability to multitask effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to learn additional computer programs as needed.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional boundaries.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with adults with mental illness and/or chemical dependency.
Essential Physical Functions
- Ability to hear and speak clearly to communicate with staff and residents in person, by telephone, and in writing.
- Ability to move about the community and public spaces, including apartment buildings.
- Occasional lifting of items up to 25 pounds.
