Resident Care Director

HealthcareFull-time

Join the Arbors Team at Arbors/Ivy, where care is personal, family-oriented, and committed to family-centered aging through generations. We lead with integrity, compassion, and teamwork, believing in collective ownership to deliver excellence for every resident and family.

About The Role

This is not a “check-the-box” leadership role. As Resident Care Director, you are the clinical standard-setter, tone-setter, and follow-through leader. You are relentlessly attentive to detail, believe systems exist for a reason, and hold yourself and your team to high standards. You understand that while every team member is different, the standard of care cannot vary. You are friendly, approachable, and cheerful—yet clear, supportive, and firm when it comes to resident safety and compliance.

No two days look alike. Interruptions happen, families call, providers arrive, and residents need immediate attention. You handle distractions with urgency and composure, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks. You follow established processes and elevate improvements thoughtfully within regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure exceptional quality of resident care through clear standards, monitoring, and accountability
  • Oversee the entire medication delivery system with precision and consistency
  • Conduct initial and ongoing resident assessments with accuracy and clinical insight
  • Evaluate medical concerns and coordinate care with providers and ancillary services
  • Interpret policies and regulations for nursing staff to ensure full compliance
  • Supervise Resident Care Aides (RCAs) with clear expectations and consistent follow-up
  • Provide hands-on competency training with return demonstrations
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and in-service education for the nursing team
  • Serve as a trusted liaison to families, healthcare agencies, hospitals, and emergency teams
  • Handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently
  • Participate in on-call rotation

You create a department where documentation is accurate, medications are correct, assessments are thorough, communication is clear, and follow-through is expected.

Qualifications

  • Extremely high attention to detail
  • Ability to hold others accountable while recognizing individual strengths
  • Refusal to let important steps be skipped
  • Ability to move quickly when urgency demands it
  • Stay organized despite constant interruptions
  • Genuine enjoyment of seniors and interest in their lives
  • Build close, respectful relationships with your nurse team
  • Improve systems carefully without cutting corners
  • Lead with both compassion and clarity

You believe excellence in care is built on consistency.

  • Current Massachusetts RN or LPN License in good standing
  • 1-year verifiable experience in Home Care or Assisted Living
  • Knowledge of aging and disability issues

Our Culture

We work hard, support each other, laugh often, and never compromise on care. If you are a nurse leader who believes that details define excellence—and who can lead with both warmth and unwavering standards—we would love to meet you.
