About the role

The Resident Care Associate (RCA) at Commonwealth Senior Living is a vital member of the team, committed to supporting seniors in Assisted Living and Memory Care communities. This role involves assisting residents with daily activities, implementing individual care plans, and fostering an environment that promotes dignity and quality of life.

Responsibilities

  • Aid residents with daily tasks and communicate care provision and resident condition changes to the Resident Care Director.
  • Utilize proper techniques and equipment for mobility assistance, preventing accidents.
  • Maintain routine care rounds to ensure resident needs are met according to individualized care plans.
  • Perform lifts, moves, and transports using proper body mechanics or lifting devices for safety.
  • Ensure resident skin integrity to prevent pressure ulcers and other damages by changing incontinent residents.
  • Document daily care activities accurately and report any resident issues or concerns promptly.
  • Respond to inquiries from residents, visitors, and staff, adhering to established policies.
  • Contribute to care planning by sharing observations of residents' needs and preferences.
  • Interact respectfully and effectively with residents, families, visitors, peers, and supervisors to create a homelike environment.
  • Offer physical, emotional, and psychosocial support to residents and their families.
  • Report any incidents or evidence of abuse or rights violations promptly.
  • Implement safety and infection control procedures, including proper hand hygiene and care techniques.
  • Maintain a safe working environment through accident prevention and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Attend all required training sessions, in-service programs, and staff meetings.
  • Regularly communicate with the Resident Care Director.
  • Fulfill any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A compassionate disposition and a desire to serve.
  • Ability to meet both the physical and emotional needs of residents.
  • Direct-Care or other state-specific certification, or willingness to obtain.
  • CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain according to company policy.
  • Confidentiality of resident information.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, to ensure resident care and services.
  • Sincere compassion and genuine concern for the well-being of seniors and their families.
  • Proficiency in using basic office equipment, including personal computers.
  • Alignment with Commonwealth Senior Living's mission of improving the lives of seniors, their families, and each other.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience not required.
  • Upholds resident confidentiality.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, to ensure resident care and services.
  • Demonstrates sincere compassion and genuine concern for the well-being of seniors and their families.
