Essential Functions, Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as a mentor to new associates.
  • Maintain structured mentoring relationship through first year of employment using a positive approach and focusing on strengths while promoting independence and problem solving.
  • Monitor progress of new associates, completing mandatory competencies and validating that competencies are completed.
  • Commit time and share expertise to help guide new associates to learn desired skills.
  • Meet at regular intervals (as designated by department guidelines) to provide feedback and coaching, evaluate progress, and help resolve issues.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to supervisor on the status of new associates’ progress.
  • Provide supportive services to nurses and other associates as needed.
  • Aid in the provision of care services to assigned residents in accordance with care plans, community policies and procedures, and at the direction of supervisor(s).
  • Assist with or perform activities of daily living for residents in accordance with care plans and established community policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate dining room services at assigned mealtimes, including set-up, clean-up, meal tray delivery, feeding assistance, and documentation of meal intake.
  • Assist with monitoring the condition of residents’ skin, reporting any skin issues (reddened areas, pressure areas, skin tears, etc.) to the nurse and supervisor.
  • Deliver nutritional supplements to residents at assigned times and provide resident assistance as needed to ensure intake, documenting intake per community policy/procedure.
  • Participate in life enrichment programming and providing meaningful activities to residents.
  • Document resident care timely and accurately.
  • Identify residents’ physical and cognitive changes, making appropriate follow-up decisions, documentation, and communication to appropriate associates.
  • Auxiliary in leisure time programming, including escorting them to and from activities.
  • Report any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents to supervisor and Administrator/Executive Director.
  • Follow appropriate safety policies and procedures at all times for the protection of all residents and associates.
  • Adhere to all infection control policies and procedures.

Position Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma/GED
  • Licenses/Certifications: N/A
  • Experience: 1-2+ years of caregiving experience preferred
  • Skills & Abilities: Ability to show compassion and empathy toward residents and associates, strong listening skills and ability to deal with conflict with professionalism and courtesy, basic computer skills, including the ability to navigate electronic medical records
  • Travel: N/A

Additional Information

  • Earn additional pay! Employees working 2nd or 3rd shift receive a $1.00/hour shift differential, and all employees working weekend shifts receive an additional **$2.00/hour weekend differential.
  • Pay Range: Min USD $18.00/Hr., Max USD $20.00/Hr.
