The Resident Care Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the health, safety, and daily well-being of residents through hands-on care, encouraging engagement in activities, and maintaining a comfortable environment.
Responsibilities
- Comply with established policies, procedures, and standards
- Follow Residents’ Rights policies
- Treat all resident information as confidential
- Treat residents, families, visitors, and peers with dignity and respect
- Ensure residents’ privacy, respect, dignity, and rights
- Report any unusual observations or conditions
- Encourage residents to remain active and attend social functions and programs
- Assist with the implementation of activity programs
- Support residents with personal care tasks
- Assist with new resident admissions
- Respond promptly to resident call bells
- Assist at meal times
- Take and document vital signs
- Attend department meetings, staff meetings, and training programs
- Practice safety for self and residents
- Make continuous rounds to observe and check on residents’ comfort and safety
- Absorb and charge residents appropriately for supplies and additional services
- Assist in training peers
- Participate in monthly fire drills and assist with the prompt evacuation of residents
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in healthcare or related field preferred but not required
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain after hire)
- Diabetic Training (or willingness to obtain after hire)
- Commitment to customer service and teamwork
- Understanding of and alignment with the philosophy and corporate values of Garden Spot Communities
- Must rotate shifts and work weekends and holidays as scheduled
- May be required to work during emergency conditions
- May be asked to work overtime to ensure adequate staffing
