The Resident Assistant (RA) is a caregiver providing assistance to residents under the supervision of the LPN and/or RN. Resident Assistants provide compassionate care that is respectful of each resident's needs, values, and wishes.
Responsibilities
- Supports the Trinity/SPHP Vision, Mission, and Values in all encounters with residents and families.
- Adheres to the SPHP Code of Conduct.
- Demonstrates accountability as an individual and team member in meeting basic resident and family needs.
- Assists residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility in a respectful, compassionate manner.
- Assists residents in taking medications as needed.
- Encourages and supports resident independence and dignity.
- Monitors resident safety and well-being, reporting any changes to the LPN.
- Consults with the LPN/RN on any changes in health statuses of residents.
- Builds meaningful relationships with residents, understanding their personal histories, preferences, and routines, and anticipates their needs.
- Helps with light housekeeping and meal service as needed to maintain a safe and clean living space.
- Participates in team meetings and communicates/collaborates with coworkers and supervisors.
- Promotes a warm, friendly, and respectful environment.
Requirements
- Must possess patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in senior care, health care, or assisted living preferred, but not required.
- Ability to follow care plan and safety protocols.
- Working knowledge of computers, including electronic health records, checking email, and performing required in-servicing, along with use of other required applications.
- Physical, visual, and auditory ability adequate to perform resident care.
- Maintain composure and positivity in a high-stress environment.
- Promote physical, cognitive, and psychosocial well-being of each resident.
- Work with residents in a highly personal manner during stages of acute and chronic illness.
Pay
Pay Range: $18.10 - $22.15 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
