Resident Assistant FT 7am-3pm

About the role

Encore at Wilmington is hiring for a full‑time Resident Assistant. The Resident Services Assistant provides personal care and non‑personal care assistance to residents as needed, helping residents maintain independent living as long as appropriate and promoting independent living activities while giving assistance.

Responsibilities

• Take vital signs as indicated.
• Change beds, give showers or baths, and assist with dressing.
• Escort residents to dining room, beauty shop, physical therapy, activities, etc.
• Make daily rounds to ill residents.
• Keep supervisor informed of residents’ status.
• Assist in monitoring medication compliance.
• Assist residents with tray service.
• Assist with ongoing assessment of residents’ needs to promote independence.
• Maintain accurate records of observations and services rendered.
• Assist residents in making doctor’s appointments.
• Attend weekly update meetings and Health Committee meetings.
• Assist in counseling residents and/or families.
• Attend in‑service training and education sessions as assigned.
• Perform specific work duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively with residents, family and staff, and perform simple arithmetic.
• Ability to document care given.
• Preferred CNA with good assessment skills or working toward CNA certification.
• Must be able to transfer residents weighing 50 pounds or more using a transfer belt, mechanical lift, or with the assistance of others.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

• Ability to walk long distances at a rapid pace.
• Ability to assist in bathing and dressing residents with disabilities.
• Ability to push a wheelchair with residents weighing up to 200 lbs independently.
• Continuous standing, turning, stooping, bending, stretching, and lifting for up to 95% of the work day while assisting residents, moving equipment, and performing related tasks using proper body mechanics.
• Good visual and hearing acuity required.
• Good verbal communication skills required.
• May be exposed to communicable diseases, and blood and body fluids that may contain HIV and/or HBV.
• May be exposed to cleaning chemicals and offensive odors.
