Responsibilities
- Provide quality care and assistance to residents in accordance with community philosophy, policies, and resident rights.
- Observe residents within patient care policy guidelines and immediately report any conditions requiring attention to the Care Coordinator.
- Assist residents in meeting their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
- Adhere to each resident’s individual service plan; notify the clinical director and care coordinator of any changes in the resident’s condition.
- Ambulates and transfers residents as needed, utilizing appropriate assistive devices and body mechanics.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living.
- Launder residents’ personal clothes, sheets, and towels according to schedule.
- Launder household items according to schedule.
- Interact with residents to ensure quality care and positive resident/staff relations.
- Be accountable for residents' care in conjunction with the Clinical Director and other disciplines to ensure quality care.
- Complete daily assignments and report problems to supervisors.
- Follow safety guidelines according to community policies and procedures.
- Offer choices, maintain dignity, and promote individuality for all residents.
- Protect and maintain resident rights.
- Carry out all duties as assigned by your supervisor.
- Attend all regular staff meetings and required training sessions.
- Effectively communicate information pertaining to residents on a “need-to-know” basis to other team members.
- Notify your supervisor or the clinical director if you observe a change in a resident’s condition.
- Maintain compliance, excellence, and delivery of resident care in adherence to organization, local, state, and federal regulations.
- Maintain a positive and professional manner toward residents, visitors, families, and co-workers.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures of Ohio Living.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) in good standing on the Ohio Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry preferred.
- One year of experience working with seniors with memory loss preferred; desire to serve and care for seniors required.
- Experience in a long-term care or other related healthcare setting preferred.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Physical Job Requirements
To fulfill job requirements, the employee must be able to perform the following physical tasks for extended periods of time:
- Stand/walk up to 8 hours a day.
- Sit up to 2 hours a day.
- Frequently support up to 70 pounds.
- Occasionally lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently kneel, bend, and reach.
