Resident Advisor
Detroit Recovery Project (DRP) is seeking compassionate, dependable, and recovery-oriented Residential Advisors to support the daily operations of our 24-hour Youth Recovery Home serving Transitional Aged Youth (TAY) ages 18–24. This position plays a critical role in creating a safe, structured, and supportive living environment for youth navigating recovery, mental health challenges, substance use concerns, independent living development, and personal growth goals.

(DRP) is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) that provides integrated behavioral health and recovery support services for individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Responsibilities
- Monitor and support residents within the Youth Recovery Home environment
- Promote a safe, structured, respectful, and recovery-oriented atmosphere
- Assist residents with daily living skills, routines, and accountability
- Conduct regular room checks, wellness checks, and safety rounds
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support as needed
- Support conflict resolution and reinforce house expectations and policies
- Complete required documentation, incident reports, shift notes, and communication logs accurately and timely
- Assist with meal support, transportation coordination, appointments, and community activities as needed
- Observe and report behavioral, emotional, or safety concerns to Leadership and Clinical staff
- Support residents with connection to recovery resources, coping strategies, and independent living development
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold HIPAA and organizational standards at all times
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Criminal Justice, Healthcare, or related field preferred
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification required
- Experience working with youth, behavioral health, substance use recovery, crisis intervention, residential care, patient monitoring, patient sitting, or community-based programs strongly preferred
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to successfully pass all pre-employment screening requirements, including a criminal background check and drug screening, consistent with applicable laws and organizational policies
- Reliable transportation required
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential strongly preferred
- Certified Peer Recovery Coach (CPRC) or interest in obtaining certification preferred
- Experience as a Patient Sitter, Behavioral Health Technician, Residential Technician, Direct Care Worker, Mental Health Technician, or similar monitoring/support role preferred
- Experience working with Transitional Aged Youth (TAY) populations preferred
- Experience within behavioral health, recovery, residential treatment, hospital, shelter, or supportive housing settings preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods
- Ability to respond appropriately during emergencies or crisis situations
- Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds

Schedule
Overnight Shift: Monday-Friday | 11:00pm – 7:30am
Pay
Compensation for this position ranges from $20.00 – $22.00 per hour based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, credentials, education, and relevant direct care, behavioral health, residential, or patient monitoring experience.
