About the Role

The Residence Program Specialist II plays a crucial role in the care and development of the people we support in one of the Agency’s residential facilities. They are responsible for fostering dignity and learning, helping to promote greater independence, and maintaining a homelike atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Provides care and assists with personal development and independence of the people we support.
  • Ensures safety and well-being measures are maintained at the highest level.
  • Trains the people we support in activities of daily living and self-help and social skills.
  • Maintains a personalized, homelike atmosphere in the residential facility.
  • Attends weekly staff meetings and in-service trainings.
  • Prepares concise written reports, including Incident Reports, Progress Notes, and others as assigned.
  • Responds to crisis situations and medical emergencies, taking quick and decisive action.
  • Ensures actions prevent abuse and reports any observed abusive behavior.
  • Administers appropriate first aid based on visible symptoms and medical history.
  • Sums up police, fire, ambulance, or other emergency personnel if necessary.
  • Utilizes crisis intervention strategies in accordance with OPWDD-approved Behavior Management guidelines.
  • Assists with transportation needs of the people we support.
  • Assists with meal planning and preparation, as well as purchasing food and supplies.
  • Demonstrates understanding and implementation of behavioral programs.
  • Participates fully in interdisciplinary plans and maintains ongoing informal exchanges of information.
  • Maintains written logs for daily activities.
  • Performs housekeeping, cooking, laundry, light maintenance, and preventative maintenance duties as needed.
  • Supervises other activities as necessary to maintain program quality.
  • Dispenses prescribed medications after completing the medication administration course and in line with Agency protocol.
  • Completes all activities related to skill building as outlined in individual program plans.
  • Supports personal hygiene needs, such as toileting, bathing, and changing as needed.
  • Handles personal documents securely and confidentially.
  • Performs related duties as requested.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills for interacting effectively with co-workers, employees, residents, and their families.
  • Ability to analyze problems and determine corrective measures.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Six months of related experience preferred but not required.
  • Salaried employees must be approved Medication Administration Personnel (AMAP) at time of hire or within six months of date of hire in salaried status. This training is provided by ADAPT Community Network, if needed.

Compensation

$18.53/hour - $19.62/hour + Industry-Leading Benefits for all full-time employees.
