Reserve Firefighter

Reserve Firefighter position in Liberal, KS. On-call basis based on county needs; not a regular or full-time position.

About the role

Respond to various emergency situations, including wildfires, accidents, and medical emergencies in rural areas. Serve the community as a Reserve Firefighter on an as-needed basis.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls and provide assistance as needed
• Operate firefighting equipment and vehicles
• Conduct fire prevention activities and educate the public on fire safety
• Maintain equipment and ensure readiness for emergency situations
• Participate in training exercises and drills to enhance skills and preparedness

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Must reside in Seward County, KS
• Physical fitness and agility to perform duties in various terrains and conditions
• Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions
• Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends
• Must complete Firefighting Training 1 within 1 year of hire
• Complete IS100, IS700, and IS800 within 1 year of hire
